Cross Country Ski trails in Gimli

Cross Country Ski Trails

Camp Morton Provincial Park is a beautiful area for cross-country skiing in Manitoba’s Interlake. Just 10 kilometres north of Gimli, the park has 12.4 kilometres of trails offering excellent skiing for all levels of skiers, from novice to advanced. Skiers enjoy picturesque winter views of Lake Winnipeg and of forests of oak, ash, birch and spruce.

Ice Fishing

Whether you're adding a log to the fire in your shack or braving the wind on the open ice, fishing on Lake Winnipeg in the Heart of New Iceland is the quickest way to unleash your inner viking.

Surrounding Gimli's harbour is an ever-growing community of eclectic and colourful ice fishing shacks scattered across Lake Winnipeg's frozen landscape. Bring your shack down or drive out with an auger and brave the weather like a true viking.

If you become in dire need of a coffee, dry socks or a warm meal, the town of Gimli is minutes away.

Skating on the Lake

Our fully groomed skating trail winds through the Gimli Harbour around art installations - offering sweeping views of majestic Lake Winnipeg. Take a break at one of the comfortable rest stops along the way and don’t forget to snap a selfie and tag #exploregimli

Gimli Glider Exhibit

One of the highlights at the Gimli Glider Exhibit is the flight simulator. Retired RCAF Emery Gal and Air Canada Pilot Mal MacDonald, Ret. have made significant upgrades including updated graphics showing Gimli and trailers and cars in the path of the air craft.  And so far our visitors are loving it! Many have even said it’s the “best experience I have ever had on a sim.”

Head into the Interlake around the Heart of New Iceland for the best snowmobile experience in the region. 

​The Interlake Snow Trackers are a not for profit recreational club who maintain 600 kilometres of snowmobile trails in and around Gimli, Winnipeg Beach, Arborg, Hecla, Grindstone, Riverton, Narcisse and Petersfield.

The club also owns and up keeps seven warm-up shelters throughout this area. The club clears, signs, grooms, and upgrades the trails consistently throughout the snowmobile season to give everyone a safe and enjoyable place to ride.

The Ship ‘n Plough is considered one of the hottest live music venues in Manitoba! We also host a variety of other events, including stand-up comedy, open mic, games night, and a traditional British-style pub quiz

Gimli Film Theatre

The 350 seat Gimli Theatre was in operation as early as 1945. The theatre is still in operation today showing first run attractions. It is also the host for the Gimli Film Festival each year.

The old school look and feel of this movie theatre lives up to the expectations of a vintage movie experience.
