Each year on this date, the descendants of these immigrants and friends here in Gimli participate in a walk to the rock to remember this important event.

Organized by the New Iceland Heritage Museum.

Northern Lights in Gimli

Northern Lights

Witness one of the worlds great wonders right in our backyard. If you have not seen the dancing lights over the lake, it is a must see.

The lights are viewed on many nights of the year, however, the weather may impact viewing visibility. The best times to view the Northern Lights are when the skies are clear and the nights are dark. When nights are longer, between October and March, the viewing conditions and colours are best. Grab your camera!

Aurora Alerts on Twitter do forecasting, making it easier to plan a trip and not miss these stunning natural events.
